Moab, Utah at Last!

After two days and over 1100 miles through four states and two National Parks/Monuments, we have finally made it to Moab, Utah.   We left Roswell, NM at 7:00 AM this morning and drove literally diagonally across the state of New Mexico.   The highlight of the day was stopping at the Aztec National Monument and eating lunch and walking around for about an hour.

The interesting thing about this is that the site which was active about 1100 AD has nothing to do with the actual Aztec tribe.  The Spanish called all of the peoples Aztec and the name stuck with the settlers that came in the 1800's.   We decided to go here instead of Mesa Verde because of the time.  All of the reading said that Mesa Verde would take about half a day so we decided to go with the "light" version and it was worth it.

Sarah's entry will have more of a "blow by blow" so I invite you to read that.
